April, 17, 2018

Having empowered over 10,000 merchants as at end 2017, PAYable expanded its service offering to include a host of brand development projects tailored to assist brands in building visibility, popularity and reach. Having piloted its first MSME concept driven pop up store in December 2017 - with outstandingly positive results, PAYable recently concluded its second MSME pop up store, POPX Avurudu – Powered by PAYable, at The Stables, Park Street Mews. The event was supported by Seylan Bank, ShopBox and Surge Global.
Speaking on POPX Avurudu - Powered by PAYable, Yohan Wijesiriwardane, CEO and Co-founder – PAYable said, “The idea to host a pop up store was one that has grown on us for quite some time. By piloting the event in December last year, we were essentially testing the waters for an idea of how successful a concept store where all merchants were MSME’s would be. What we discovered is that the response was better than we had hoped – brand recognition for PAYable and for merchant brands have reached an all-time high, as has awareness on the availability of cashless payment solutions and the benefits offered by PAYable. We are very happy with the success of this concept and are looking forward to hosting more pop up stores as well as rolling out a host of other value added services set to boost merchant visibility”.
Featuring 33 brands across fashion, clothing, food, household items and other curated gifts, the POP-X Avurudu concept store stood out in that every merchant selling on the day was empowered with the ability to accept cashless payments on the PAYable platform. Making it possible for any customer to pay via credit / debit card at any of the merchants.
The brands featured at this round of POPX Avurudu - Powered by PAYable were, KeepItSimple, Vita Shop, Limited Edition, Ayana, Royal and Regal, Island Lush, Nuki, Desert Diamonds, Curves, Aganaa, Xodus, Manic Phase, Alter Ego, 1331, RAS Jewelers, Abundance, Madison Envy, 20First Clothing, Rangeela, Zirc Jewelry, Jigsaw, Moments, Manikins, B&B, 4inhand, Fiza, Tresor, Psycho Brand, Halo, Supplement Factory, Home Bargains, Queen Cart and Letter Crazy.
POPX Avurudu was also unique in that it was advertised solely through Radio promotions and social media, with each brand leveraging its own social media following in order to provide event awareness as well as generate interest on the cashless payment platform.

Speaking on the event from a merchant point of view, 'Irushi Ratnaweera, Founder, Island Lush, said "Island Lush was delighted to be a part of POPX Avurudu - Powered by PAYable. This is the second PAYable pop up we have been a part of and we were excited to launch the brand new Island Lush collection exclusively at the venue on the day. We were delighted to be able to offer customers great deals and discounts and our customers are very happy that we are able to accept credit and debit card payments - thanks to PAYable. We look forward to being a part of the next pop up as well."
The success of POPX Avurudu – Powered by PAYable stands as testament to the potential of the MSME industry and its growing popularity in a host of spheres. Further strengthening the PAYable commitment to continue aiding the development of this industry.
