Pears launches ‘Ran Ruwan Lamun’ towards building a Nation of Happy Babies

Pears, a trusted baby toiletries brand in Sri Lanka launched “Ran Ruwan Lamun”, a children’s book on household safety and prevention in commemoration of World’s Children’s Day 2015. This was another initiative launched under Pears “Happy Baby Learning Centre” an initiative dedicated to share knowledge with Sri Lankan parents on keeping their babies happy!

Written and illustrated by veteran children's book author Sybil Wettasinghe. The book is an easy to understand series of colorful illustrations on how to prevent day to day accidents and keeping children happy all day long. This book helps fulfill a longstanding need to address everyday situations and accidents that parents need to be aware of and can help easily prevent.

Ran Ruwan Lamun is also endorsed by the Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs and the Sri Lanka College of Pediatricians. The book will be distributed among pre-schools across the nation sharing this valuable knowledge with thousands of parents.

The event saw the book being brought to life by Sybil Nanda herself together with Sulochana Dissanayake founder “Power of Play” and Sahan Ranwala of the Ranwala Balakaya at Mihikatha Madura, BMICH, Colombo.

The event was also graced by Media Minister, Gayantha Karunathileke and distinguished guests from Sri Lanka College of Pediatricians, Ministry of Child Development & Family Health Bureau while popular Sri Lankan celebrity mothers and their toddlers were also present.

Speaking of the endeavor, Nilushi Jayatileke, Marketing Manager - Skin Cleansing & Baby Care said “As a brand with a vision of creating Sri Lanka, a nation of happy babies Pears always attempt to educate Sri Lankan mothers on ways to ensure the happiness of their babies, “Ran Ruwan Lamun” launched as a another initiative under Pears Happy Baby Learning Centre is a step further to achieving our goal.” Further she also mentioned that Pears Happy Baby Learning Centre has been able to reach out to over hundred thousand mothers across the nation with such unique knowledge.

Sharmila Bandara, Marketing Director –Personal Care, Unilever Sri Lanka appreciated the valuable contribution made by Sri Lanka college of Pediatricians towards the brand’s mission of making Sri Lanka a Nation of Happy Babies and assured that Pears will continue such knowledge sharing initiatives in the future.

Sri Lanka College of Pediatricians and Pears have been working together towards a common goal to build a nation of Happy Babies for more than a decade. “Ran Ruwan Lamun” is another result of this longstanding relationship.

Consultant Pediatrician Dr. Kalyani Guruge, the mind behind Ran Ruwan Lamun said “The book is our way of nurturing preschool children, teachers and parents on how to create a safe, healthy and happy home environment for our future generation.”
