Though the government prefers 03 January for a Presidential poll the Elections Secretariat prefers 10 January 2015.

However, it has been revealed that there would not be any likelihood for a Presidential election to be held on 10 January due to the Pope’s visit to Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, attention has been focused on holding the Presidential election on 07 January.
