Rhino Roofing Products Limited launches series of CSR initiatives to enrich communities

Believing that it has a fundamental responsibility to assist in providing shelter, access to education and skills development opportunities to disadvantaged individuals, Rhino Roofing Products Limited has launched an all-new CSR policy thatgreatly underpins the group’s strategic intentwithin the engineering industry of Sri Lanka.

This philosophy is evident in the recent donation of a substantial quantity of equipment to the Matara Technical College, which was madein order to enhance the students’learning experience and enable them, as tomorrow’s workforce, to hit the road with hands-on experience in using the relevant equipment, tools and labs. The Company also organized and conducted a workshop on Chrysotile Fibre Roofing Sheets, preparing and inspiring the MTC students to be successful in a new career following their college education.

Present at the donation ceremony was The Principal of the Matara Technical College – Mr. Hettiarachchi, Quality Assuarance Manager of Rhino Roofing Products – Mr. DumindaHettiarachchi, Techincal Officer – Mr. SandunSanjeewa, National Sales Manager of Supermet Building Solutions – a subsidiary of Rhino Roofing Products – Mr. ChamikaJayasingha along with other officials representing both parties.

Succeeding the presentation of the equipment which would mainly benefit those studying inthe field of Architecture, DumindaHettiarachchi addressed the gathering and presented to them the technical know-how of and benefits of using Chrysotile Fibre, whilst ChamikaJayasingha advised students on the importance of preserving the equipment for the use of future generations. The introduction of the Supermet range of products was then done by Technical Officer SandunSanjeewa. In conclusion, Principal Hettiarachchi thanked the organization for coming forward to help prepare the students and thereby becoming a catalyst in inspiring these individuals to have a successful future. “Your generosity is truly not only for students, but for tomorrows workforce,” he added.

Donation of Roofing Sheets
In another one of its successful CSR initiatives, Rhino Roofing Products Limited also donated roofing sheets for the construction of the Town Hall and Community Centre of the EkhalaVishaka Garden GramaNiladhari division. The Community Centre will provide a focal point for the social and cultural life in the area, and most importantly, once completed, will house the offices of the GramaNiladhari, the Economic Development Officer and the Family Planning Officer of the division.

The Company further donated roofing sheets for the building of the Sunday School at the Bopitiya Sri Bodhi Temple in Pamunugama, once again taking the lead in providing shelter to the disadvantaged communities in Sri Lanka.

Well-water clean-up campaign
Following the success of its flood relief campaign, Rhino Roofing Products Limited now intends to provide those affected by the gale force winds with safe, affordable and reliable water by introducing an effort to clean up the water wells in the city of Jaela. Through this project, the Company intends on providing the those affected in the zone with clean drinking water and ensuring that that the water is safe for human contact.
