Captain Daminda Rambukwella, Director General of Civil Aviation of Sri Lanka, held a bilateral meeting with the Capacity Development and Implementation (CDI) Bureau of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on the sidelines of the 61st Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation of the Asia and Pacific Regions (DGCA/61) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Sri Lanka and ICAO, particularly in the areas of capacity development, technical assistance and the effective implementation of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).

The discussions also covered Sri Lanka’s aviation priorities, including the strategic development plan for Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, while exploring opportunities for targeted technical support aligned with the country’s aviation needs.

The engagement reflects Sri Lanka’s continued commitment to strengthening its civil aviation capabilities through international cooperation and technical support, while advancing the effective implementation of ICAO standards and recommended practices.

The bilateral meeting further reinforced Sri Lanka’s active engagement with ICAO and its commitment to the continuous development and strengthening of the country’s civil aviation sector.
