Sri Lanka is taking a significant step towards strengthening its position in the regional digital finance landscape with the inaugural Sri Lanka FinTech Festival 2026, organised by the FinTech Forum Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy.
Addressing the official press conference held Tuesday (25) at the Amari Colombo hotel premises, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Eng. Eranga Weeraratne, officially announced this to the media, alongside the launch of the event's official website,
www.fintechfestival.lk.
Taking place from 2nd to 3rd November 2026 at Shangri-La Colombo, the two-day flagship festival will bring together leaders and innovators from government, banking, financial services, fintech and technology to showcase Sri Lanka’s growing digital finance capabilities and connect the local ecosystem with regional and global opportunities.
The Festival will explore key developments shaping the future of finance, including AI in finance, digital assets, cross-border payments and remittances, tokenisation, digital public infrastructure and digital identity, financial inclusion, SME finance, tourism payments, cybersecurity and fraud prevention.
The programme will feature a CEOs Night on 2nd November, which will provide an exclusive platform for senior leaders from banking, fintech, government and technology to engage in high-level dialogue and explore opportunities for collaboration. The Sri Lanka FinTech Expo on 3rd November will bring together industry leaders, innovators and experts for a full day of keynote addresses and thought-provoking panel discussions on the future of financial technology. The Festival will conclude with FinTech Night on 3rd November, offering a valuable networking platform to strengthen relationships, exchange ideas and build new partnerships across Sri Lanka’s growing fintech ecosystem.
The press conference was addressed by Eng. Eranga Weeraratne, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy; Mr. Waruna Sri Dhanapala, Secretary to the Ministry of Digital Economy; Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Advisor to H.E. the President on Digital Economy; Mr. Channa de Silva, Chairman of the FinTech Forum; and Mr. Conrad Dias, Vice Chairman of the FinTech Forum.
The event was also attended by distinguished representatives of the Government, the banking and financial services sector, fintech and technology industries, the organisers of the Sri Lanka FinTech Festival and members of the media.
