Sri Lanka’s foreign reserves drop

Latest data released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka reveals that Sri Lanka’s foreign reserves which had stood at USD 8.8 billion as at October last year has dropped to USD 8.3 billion.

The Central Bank has stated that some USD 2,758 million has gone out of the country as foreign debt service payments.

In August 2014 Sri Lanka’s foreign reserves had increased to USD 9.2 billion.

Meanwhile, during the period January to November 2014 there had been an surplus of USD 1,628.3 million in the balance of payment while during the same period in 2013 the surplus in the balance of payment had been USD 581.7.
