Super sprinter Lankan Rupee rated among the world’s top 10 racehorses

LANKAN Rupee is the only Australian-trained galloper rated among the world’s top 10 racehorses.

The International Federation of Horseracing Authorities released their latest round of World’s Best Racehorse Rankings with Melbourne’s super sprinter Lankan Rupee coming in with a 123

The only other runners from this region among the world’s top 30 are retired New Zealand star It’s A Dundeel who came in equal 14th with a 122 rating while dual Doncaster Mile winner Sacred Falls was ranked equal 27th on 120.

Japan’s super horse Just A Way remains clearly the world’s highest-ranked galloper with a 130 ranking after his dominant wins in the Dubai Duty Free and Yasuda Kinen.

South Africa’s Variety Club is next on 126 then America’s Game On Dude at 125.

English colt Kingman moved up to equal third after being rated at 125 following his five lengths romp in the Irish 2000 Guineas, while Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner California Chrome is next on 124.

Australia, the outstanding English Derby winner, is vaulted to 123 alongside Lankan Rupee and France’s warhorse Cirrus De Aigles.

Hong Kong trainer John Moore has three in the world’s top 20 with Designs On Rome and Military Attack also at 123, ranking them equal sixth, while stablemate Dan Excel earned a 120 rating after his Singapore International Airlines Cup win which moved him to 20th on the rankings.

Dan Excel has gone into quarantine in Hong Kong in preparation for a Melbourne spring carnival campaign aimed at the Cox Plate.
