Top rung changes at Finlays Colombo

The current Managing Director of the long standing Finlays Colombo PLC is to resign on 14 July and a new Managing Director has been appointed to replace him.

Finlays Colombo PLC says current Managing Director Samuel Compton Swire would resign while Alexander Christian Nicolas Johansen would replace him.

After his resignation Samuel Compton Swire would proceed to England to assume duties at the parent company John Swire & Sons UK head office.

Finlays Colombo adds that a former chairman and Managing Director Kumar Jayasuriya would continue as the non-executive chairman of the company.

Finlays Colombo PLC is a long standing business establishment in Sri Lanka with its beginning in 1893 and is engaged in tea as well as other businesses.

Alexander Christian Nicolas Johansen who takes over as the new Managing Director of Finlays Colombo has a Chinese MA Degree (Honours) from the University of Edinburg, UK. His previous position was as Sales and Marketing Director at Swire Coca-Cola Beverages Xiamen Limited and where he headed the sales team for the Fujian Province in China.

Working for the Swire Group since 2004, Alexander Christian Nicolas Johansen has held various positions within Swire beverage division in the USA, Hong Kong and mainland China.
