Cumulative tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka up to June 2018 had increased to 1,164,647 tourists for the first six months of this year recording a 15.3% growth over last year whilst 1,010,444 tourists had visited the country for the same period in 2017. Meanwhile total number of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka during month of June alone had reached 146,828, recording a growth of 19% against the arrivals in May 2018.

According to the latest official data released from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), largest source market for tourists was recorded as India in June, followed by China and United Kingdom. India, China, United Kingdom, Australia and Germany were Sri Lanka’s top five international tourist generating markets in June this year. China accounted for 14% of the total traffic, while United Kingdom, Australia and Germany accounted for 8%, 7% and 4% respectively.
