UDA offering office complexes at ultra modern Kottawa expressway city

March, 26, 2014

The Urban Development Authority (UDA) has decided to offer opportunities to the government and private sectors to establish office complexes of over 10 stories within the proposed ultra modern Kottawa expressway city near the interchange to the Southern Expressway.

The UDA has prepared to reserve land to an extent of five acres for this purpose.

While commenting on this proposal, UDA Deputy Director – Planning, Priyani Navaratne told AdaderanaBiz, “We will select government as well as private sector institutions to establish office complexes of over 10 stories within this land. We are preparing to advertise for applications. The UDA will provide the land on long-term lease facilities to the chosen institutions. They could establish office complexes and even rent out their premises.”

As first reported by AdaderanaBiz a few weeks earlier, the UDA is preparing to construct this ultra modern city on a 25 acre plot of land near the main interchange to the Southern Expressway at Makumbura in Kottawa.

This land is connected to the marsh near the present Pizza Hut restaurant. A bus stand for the buses plying the Southern Expressway, a super complex and a housing complex are to be constructed within this ultra modern city while several state institutions are to be moved to this city.

Priyani Navaratne said that the plans include this location to be developed as a transport hub and the Kelani Valley railway line too to be extended to this city.
