UK’s State Minister for Trade Policy Conor Burns meets Cabraal, assures UK will not make any changes to GSP Plus

Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Economic Affairs Ajith Nivard Cabraal Tuesday (28th January 2020) met with The United Kingdom's State Minister for Trade Policy, Conor Burns at the Department of International Trade, at Westminister, London.

“At the meeting where a wide range of initiatives relating to the improvement of trade and investment between the two countries were discussed, Minister Burns assured Prime Minister's Senior Advisor Cabraal that the UK will not make any changes to its GSP plus concession policy framework until 31st December 2020” a statement issued by the office of the Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister on Economic Affairs said.

The statement also added that Cabraal also invited Minister Burns to arrange for a UK business delegation to visit Sri Lanka in the near future to ascertain for themselves, the opportunities that are now unfolding in Sri Lanka under the new Government lead by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rakjapaksa.
