When inquired from Maliban Milk Foods chief executive officer D.L. Weerasuriya whether there are possibilities of reducing the prices of powdered milk foods in the local market since the prices in the world market showed a downward trend, he said that such a price reduction could be made only after September.

He said that this was due to the powdered milk food currently available in the world market at lower prices arriving into the island only by September while adding that the powdered milk foods currently available in the market were those imported at the world market prices prevailing in August last year.

While the price of a ton of powdered milk food at the Global Dairy Trade Auction dropped by USD 3,756 recently from around USD 5000.
