Why are EPF-rejected Hemas shares valuable to Templeton Trust?

July, 11, 2014

The purchase of Hemas Holdings Limited shares to the tune of nearly Rs. 1.5 billion recently by Templeton Trust which a world prominent investments fund, portrays the faith of the international investors on the company as well as on Sri Lanka, said A.N. Esufally, a member of Hemas Holdings Limited.

While speaking to AdaderanaBiz.lk, Esufally said these shares had been sold by the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), the Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF) and the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation.

On 02 July, Templeton Trust bought 33.5 million shares of Hemas Holdings Limited at Rs. 45.00 each as a crossing.

When investors like Templeton Trust place their faith on the future development of companies like Hemas, the Employees’ Provident Fund disposing of Hemas shares while retaining weaker shares has come under severe criticism from several quarters.
