How will SLC pay USD 1.5 million to cricket team?

April, 4, 2014

The executive committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) at an emergency meeting this morning has decided to pay an additional bonus of US dollars 1.5 million to the Sri Lanka cricket team if they win the championship at the ICC Twenty20 World Cup Cricket Tournament being played in Bangladesh.

This includes the USD 500,000 participatory fee and the USD 01 million bonus offered for winning the tournament.

According to information, the cash to be offered by SLC is through the monies to be received by it after winning the Twenty20 World Cup.

When inquired by AdaderanaBiz, a senior SLC official said that looking into how these monies are paid to the players is not important.

He added that he however believes these monies would be paid from a part of the sum received for winning the Twenty20 World Cup and SLC’s cash in deposits.

The sum involved is Sri Lankan Rupees 193.5 million.
