The University of Sri Jayewardenepura ceremonially launched the second edition of 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 on 25th May 2026 at the Senate Boardroom, officially commencing Sri Lanka’s premier inter-university equity valuation competition.
Organized by the Students’ Association of Finance (SAF) of the Department of Finance, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce (FMSC), in collaboration with CFA Society Sri Lanka and Acuity Analytics, the competition continues to bridge academia and the finance industry.
The ceremony brought together academics, finance professionals, and undergraduate participants representing 42 teams from 10 universities, comprising 38 teams from state universities and 4 teams from private universities, highlighting the growing recognition of Value Masters as a platform for analytical and professional development.
Delivering the welcome speech, Dr. Neelangie Nanayakkara, Head of the Department of Finance, highlighted the department’s commitment to academic excellence and expressed gratitude to CFA Society Sri Lanka and Acuity Analytics for their continuous support and collaboration.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dushan Jayawickrama, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, emphasized the importance of analytical thinking and practical competencies in shaping future finance professionals.
Ms. Rashmi Peiris Paranavitane, President of CFA Society Sri Lanka, Mr. Nuwan Jayawardana, Director and Sri Lanka Head of Buy-Side Research at Acuity Analytics, and Mr. Pranavan Premarajah, Associate Director of Acuity Analytics, shared insights on the evolving financial landscape, particularly the growing influence of AI-driven technologies, research expertise, and adaptability in the modern finance industry.
The ceremony was also graced by the presence of Mr. Aruna Alwis, Chief Executive Officer of CFA Society Sri Lanka.
A highlight of the ceremony was the official launch of the Value Masters 2026 case study, marking the commencement of this year’s competition journey. Following the Mini Case Study Challenge, qualifying teams will proceed to the Equity Valuation Report stage, where training sessions and mentoring support will be provided by Acuity Analytics. Selected finalist teams will then compete at the Grand Finale scheduled for July 2026.
The champions of Value Masters 2025 also shared reflections on the exposure and learning opportunities gained through the competition.
Cash prizes of Rs. 100,000, Rs. 75,000, and Rs. 50,000 will be awarded to the top three teams respectively.
As the second edition begins, Value Masters 2026 continues to serve as a national platform dedicated to fostering analytical excellence, strategic thinking, and professional growth among the next generation of finance professionals in Sri Lanka.
