Austria-Sri Lanka direct flights resume

October, 28, 2015

An Austrian Airlines 767 aircraft landed at the Bandaranaike International Airport this morning (28 October).

When adaderanabiz.lk inquired from Civil Aviation Authority Chief Executive Officer H.M.C. Nimalsiri said, “Austrian Airlines halted its flights to Sri Lanka on 24 January 2008 due to the lack of aircraft and direct passengers to the island from Vienna. The security situation in Sri Lanka at that time too added to the halting of these flights.”

He added that however, the stopped flights resumed from today.

While Austrian Airlines has decided to resume these flights from today, there would be a weekly direct flight from Vienna in Austria to the Bandaranaike International Airport every Wednesday. This flight would be a Boeing 767 with 199 seats in the economy class and 26 in the business class.
