Bibile sugar development project ready

The government is preparing to launch the ‘Bibile Sugar Development Project’ through which a farmer household could earn a monthly income of Rs. 60,000 to 80,000.

The main project is to grow sugar cane for sugar production at Rideemalayadda in the Badulla district, in the Padiyathalawa and Mahaoya Secretariat Divisions of the Ampara district and also grow mixed crops, establish dairy farming, grow Glyricidia and use the discarded branches for the use of renewable energy.

Each farmer would be provided with 2.5 hectares of land under this project, says the government.
