Cabinet nod to purchase coal for Norochcholai power plant from Singapore firms

Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises Private Limited has won a contract to supply coal to Lakvijaya power plant in Norocholai, Puttalam at 60.71 US dollars a ton.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Minister of Power Energy to award Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises the contract to supply 50% of the power plant’s 2.25 million metric ton coal requirement. The coal is to be supplied to the 900MW power plant in Norocholai from November 2019 to April 2021.

The cabinet decision further said that approval has been granted to award the contract of getting Skilled Labour Force for B Level maintenance of Lakvijaya power station Unit 1 to China Machinery Engineering Corporation for US $3.84 Million.

Meanwhile, cabinet also granted approval to purchase 240,000 metric tons of coal for the Norochcholai power plan under a spot tender from M/s Adani Global Private Limited for US$ 67.39 per metric ton.
