CBSL Records $70.8 Million Net Forex Purchase in June 2026

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has disclosed its intervention activities within the domestic foreign exchange market for the month of June 2026.

During this period, the CBSL purchased USD 96.3 million from the local foreign exchange market and sold USD 25.8 million. Consequently, the net amount of dollars purchased from the market during June totaled USD 70.8 million.

This follows May 2026, which saw the largest single-month dollar sale by the Central Bank since the onset of Sri Lanka's economic crisis. In May, the bank recorded a net sale of $211.3 million, having sold $223.3 million and purchased $12 million during that month.
