Chinese beat Indians in rushing to Sri Lanka

During last July 25,120 Chinese tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka, making China the country from where the most number of tourists visit the island nation. India being the country with the second most number of tourists to the island is a significant feature.

The arrival of Chinese tourists to Sri Lanka during the past month as against the same month of last year is a growth of 65.5 per cent.

Meanwhile, another prominent feature is 119,705 Chinese tourist arrivals into Sri Lanka during the seven months of 2015 ending in July, which is a 77 per cent growth.

Similarly, the number of Indian tourists to Sri Lanka in July this year is 24,681 which is a 28 per cent growth. During the seven months of 2015 ending in July, tourist arrivals into Sri Lanka from India are 170,134 which indicate a growth of 27.4 percent.

In July, the number of tourist arrivals from Western Europe has grown by 18 per cent, Eastern Europe by 16.7 per cent while the total tourist arrivals have indicated a growth of 31 per cent. Accordingly, in July175,804 tourists have visited Sri Lanka.

During the seven months of this year ending July, there have been 1,005,855 tourist arrivals into Sri Lanka, which is a growth of 16.8 per cent.
