EGB refreshes Indian beauties with its unique Sri Lankan taste

March, 27, 2014

One of Sri Lanka’s iconic beverage brands Elephant House Ginger Beer, or EGB as it is widely referred to, partnered with Femina Miss India 2014 as the beverage sponsor of the week-long pre-pageant tour of Sri Lanka.

Hosted by Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, the hospitality partner for the tour, the Femina Miss India finalists visited several exotic locations around the island. They were delighted to savor a selection of quintessentially Sri Lankan delicacies including EGB during their tour. Relishing the rush of fresh ginger in each bottle, the guests from India were charmed by EGB’s delectable taste. Created from a recipe that is over a century old, EGB’s taste is derived from 100% natural ginger sourced locally from over 250 farmers in the Central Province.

“As a home grown brand, we are proud to showcase our rich culture and warm hospitality to the Miss India delegation”said Head of Beverages, Elephant House and Vice President, John Keells Holdings Daminda Gamlath.

This year’s tour of Sri Lanka was the first step to move the event to newer destinations away from its host country. 25 regional finalists of the Miss India crowning pageant were unveiled for the first time this year in Sri Lanka. Walking the ramp in the latest designs from Sri Lanka, the finalists took part in a gala fashion showtitled ‘Beauty and Glamour’. The 70 member contingent from India also included five current title holders of Femina Miss India 2013, over 20 international journalists and TV crews from different parts of India. Enthralled by their experiences in Sri Lanka, the organizers indicated plans to hold the pageant’s Grand Finale in Sri Lanka next year.
