June, 24, 2015

Work on the Kaduwela-Kadawatha 8.9 kilometre stretch of the Outer Circular Highway, the second phase of the highway that connects the Southern Expressway at Kottawa and on which work was started by the former government, is to be completed and opened to the public on 30 June by the government, learns www.adaderanabiz.lk

Work is also to begin on the third phase of this highway which is the 9.32 kilometre stretch from Kadawatha to Kerawalapitiya.

The accusations on the estimated costs of the project having increased are false, said the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka recently while quoting a spokesman from the Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd. (MCC) which is the main contractor for the third phase of the Outer Circular Highway.

Once the third phase of this highway is complete, an individual arriving on the Southern Expressway could proceed directly to Katunayake.

The total distance of the Outer Circular Highway is 29.1 kilometres.
