Hair Art 2015 Celebrates a Decade of the Ramani Fernando Sunsilk Hair and Beauty Academy

The Ramani Fernando Sunsilk Hair and Beauty Academy will celebrate 10 years of styling careers in the industry with Hair Art 2015, which promises to be a glittering evening of glamour and fashion with creative and trendy hair styling taking centre stage.

Scheduled to be held on 8 December, Hair Art 2015 will showcase the talents and skills of the 2015 graduating class of the Academy through three separate themed segments. Teenage haircut and colour casual hair styling will be featured in the “Hip Hop” segment, while elegant, wearable hairstyling trends for long hair will be highlighted in the “Hair Silhouette” section, and fantasy hairstyling will be showcased through theme of the “Celestial Signs of the Zodiac.”

Commenting at the launch of Hair Art 2015, CEO of Ramani Fernando Salons, Ramani Fernando said, “From its establishment in 2005, the goal of the Academy has been to provide world-class training for budding hair and beauty specialists, giving them a chance to achieve their dreams and contribute to the progress of the beauty industry in Sri Lanka. Together with Sunsilk, we are committed to providing a high level of industry knowledge and techniques to our students through the quality of our specially designed curricula and highly trained tutors, and it is indeed very gratifying to have reached this significant milestone of a decade of the Ramani Fernando Sunsilk Hair and Beauty Academy. I am eagerly looking forward to this year’s graduation and showcase event that is Hair Art 2015, which will undoubtedly be a memorable evening for all of us.”

In addition to showcasing the proficiencies of the graduating students of the Academy, Hair Art 2015 will present a number of special awards, including this year’s City & Guilds’ Medal of Excellence and the Best Sunsilk Student Award.

Since its inception, more than 4,600 students have studied at the Ramani Fernando Sunsilk Hair and Beauty Academy in the past decade, which includes more than 250 students on scholarships. The scholarships are offered by Unilever Sri Lanka and Sunsilk to a number of deserving and talented individuals who display immense potential to succeed in the industries of hair and beauty. This includes 24 scholarships offered annually to follow the Diploma in Hairdressing, as well as special initiatives such as scholarships for the Sewa Vanitha unit of the Sri Lanka Army.

In 2009, the Ramani Fernando Sunsilk Hair and Beauty Academy achieved a first for the Sri Lankan beauty industry when one of the Academy students was recognised as being one of the best in the world, by receiving the City & Guilds’ Medal of Excellence in the Diploma in Hairdressing. Since then, the Academy has continued to receive the Medal of Excellence each year, a testament to the quality of training maintained by the Ramani Fernando Sunsilk Hair and Beauty Academy.

The Ramani Fernando Sunsilk Hair and Beauty Academy offers a range of programmes in Hair and Beauty such as Diplomas, Advanced Courses and Specialist Courses such as Tinting, Perming, Cutting, Styling, and Bridal Dressing. The curriculum of these programmes also covers aspects of Personal Grooming, Image Building and English, and also offers programmes in training skills for anyone wanting to pursue a career in teaching and training. All courses offered at the Academy are accredited with City & Guilds and it is a TVEC registered Centre.
