Turnkey project supports Continental’s manufacturing growth and Sri Lanka's industrial development

Hayleys Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, the specialist Construction and Engineering arm of the Hayleys Group, has been selected to deliver the expansion of Continental's tyre manufacturing facility at Wagawatta, Kalutara. The appointment was formalised at a contract signing ceremony held in Colombo on 21^st July.

The project forms part of Continental’s broader investment programme in Sri Lanka under the Board of Investment (BOI), expanding the company’s manufacturing footprint and local pre-production capabilities and also expected to create approximately 200 additional jobs, reinforcing the country’s position as a regional manufacturing hub.

Under the turnkey contract, Hayleys Engineering will oversee the complete delivery of the project, integrating civil construction, structural engineering, pre-engineered steel buildings (PESB), mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems, utility infrastructure and site development within a single coordinated delivery framework.

Hayleys Fentons and ATAD Steel Structure Corporation, Vietnam will contribute specialist engineering capabilities together with Hayleys Engineering’s overall project leadership, demonstrating the strength of the Group’s integrated engineering model.

At the contract signing, Hayleys PLC Chairman & Chief Executive Mohan Pandithage stated, “Continental’s decision to appoint Hayleys Engineering reflects the capability of Sri Lankan companies to deliver complex industrial projects to international standards. Managing Director of Hayleys Engineering, Mr. Choliya De Silva, said: “The project demands close coordination across civil works, structural systems, utilities and engineering services to meet the technical requirements of a modern manufacturing facility.
