Latest Corporate Wellness Programme held as part of the clinic’s 10-year commemoration

February 10^th 2016: The Corporate Wellness Programme of the Healthy Life Clinic, launched in recognition of the critical importance of promoting good health and wellness at workplaces at which people spend a significant part of their day, was recently extended to the Department of Inland Revenue – Colombo.

The unique clinic, which provides comprehensive treatment for diabetes and family and corporate health issues, conducted the Corporate Wellness Programme as part of a series of initiatives to commemorate the Healthy Life Clinic’s 10-year anniversary.

The Corporate Wellness Programme, aimed at providing complete health protection strategies and guidance to the corporate sector, comprises healthy living education and awareness, inculcation of healthy practices and introduction of aerobic exercises within the corporate setup to encourage physical activity as a means of improving and protecting health as well as screening of weight, Body Mass Index (BMI) and blood sugar.

The event was attended by over 100 employees of the Inland Revenue Department including the Commissioner General and Deputy Commissioners. Addresses were made by the Healthy Life Clinic’s Chief Consultant – Dr. Kayathri Periasamy and its Health Promotion Officer – Nalin Kumara, which were followed by an aerobic exercises demonstration.

“Our substantial involvement in corporate healthcare has shown that there is a notably greater prevalence of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and obesity among the corporate and public sector than one would expect considering the national-level figures,” Chief Consultant of Healthy Life Clinic, Dr. Kayathri Periasamy said. “Considering especially that people spend an increasingly greater part of their day at their places of work, we hope to make a meaningful difference through our Corporate Wellness Programmes which promote good health and wellness through practical measures.”

The Healthy Life Clinic launched a series of initiatives in commemoration of its 10-year anniversary, including special subsidized packages for diabetes and community initiatives – including a free health awareness and screening programme at the Malabe Boys’ Model School.
