In to the World of Black and White with Ilham Sanoon

October, 12, 2016

Although the world is a myriad colours, to really see it in its raw beauty one must look at it in black and white. There is something about these two colours that brings out the distinctness of life. Ilham Sanoon is an artist who understands this well. This is why he chose to showcase 65 carefully selected art pieces created by himself at his private gallery recently.

The “Blacklit Galleria” was established in 2013 singlehandedly by this budding artist who from a young age had a love for art. Having started off drawing early, Ilham found he was inspired by anything and everything around him which was portrayed in his collection. Within a short span of just three years since establishing his own gallery, he has developed his own distinct style using dainty lines, the thinnest strokes and deep, detailed expressions. His final aim is to create a masterpiece that speaks more than words could ever say.

The collection on display on the 1st of October 2016 included abstract, sketches, patterns, designs and story-based theme art, all of which was a culmination of hours of patience, care and passion. Among the invitees at the private viewing were art critics and enthusiasts, art collectors, diplomats, celebrities and family.

Speaking at the viewing Ilham says, “Artists like myself are rampant in our society and I feel support should be extended by both private and public institutions in a focused manner to make stars of the people in this unique group and thus bring more pride to the industry.”

Ilham will stage his next public exhibition early in 2017 at the Lionel Wendt, while he also has hopes to move his private gallery to a better, public location.
