Provision of Japanese Yen One thousand, Two Hundred and Thirty Million (approximately LKR 2.8 billion) Project Grant Assistance by the Government of Japan through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the Project for the Stabilization of Power Supply Using Renewable Energy at Hospitals in Sri Lanka

Renewable power is booming as innovation that brings down costs and starts to deliver on the promise of a clean energy future. The non-renewable energy sources, which are rapidly depleting and causing detrimental impacts on the environment by contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, have led the Government of Sri Lanka to consider alternative renewable energy resources in order to meet the energy requirements in a sustainable manner.

By strengthening this challenging journey, the Government of Japan, as one of the main development partners, by extending its cooperation further, has agreed to provide a grant assistance amounting to Japanese Yen one thousand, two hundred and thirty million (approximately LKR 2.8 billion) to establish photovoltaic solar power generation systems in selected hospitals in Sri Lanka.

Under this project, rooftop photovoltaic solar power generation systems will be installed in three selected government hospitals: Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital, Teaching Hospital Rathnapura, and Teaching Hospital Kurunegala. In addition, photovoltaic modules and accessories, power conditioners and accessories, power cables and terminals, fire detectors, other related renovations and related services will be provided. This grant assistance will be a great patronage for technology transfer in the field of photovoltaic solar power generation systems in Sri Lanka.
