KDU’s newly constructed Graduate Studies building opened

The newly constructed building for the faculty of Graduate Studies of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University was declared open yesterday (04 August 2015) by HE President Maithripala Sirisena.

Faculty of Graduate Studies of the University is one of the leading Post Graduate Institutions in Sri Lanka and programmes are designed as part time courses to provide flexibility to full time occupied learners while ensuring high academic standards. Lectures are held during weekends.

This building is a fulfillment of a long felt requirement of the university and it will provide ample facilities for conducting of Post Graduate programmes in future. At present KDU is conducting eleven Post Graduate programmes covering highly demanding fields in the academic sphere.

Located in a newly acquired land in front of the main campus, the new state of the art seven storied building comprises of modern facilities for studies, including fully equipped modern auditorium, lecture halls, administrative office complex and fully equipped rest areas with all amenities. Entire building space is provided with free Wi-Fi facility.

Another unique feature of this building is that, it consists of the highest synthetic wall climbing facility  complex in the country with a 54 feet height special wall to facilitate wall climbing, which is  popular adventurous  sport in the world.

This newly constructed building is a brain child of the Vice Chancellor of the Kotalawala Defence University, Major General Milinda Peiris who plays a pivotal role in the mammoth development achieved by the university in recent history.
