May, 15, 2019

A well-known leading corporate personality in Sri Lanka Kishu Gomes has stepped down from his position as the chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

Kishu who headed both, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) since February this year , has decided to resign from his position as the chairman of the SLTDA in order to focus his attention on re-building Sri Lanka's tourism brand which has virtually failed due to the recent Easter Sunday attacks.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of the SLTPB Johanne Jayaratne has been appointed as the new Chairman of the SLTDA.

The letter of appointment to Jayaratne was handed over by Minister of Tourism and Christian Religious Affairs John Amaratunga.

The country has been facing new challenges since the Easter Sunday attacks that dealt a serious blow to the tourism industry. Hence this change will hopefully make a positive impact in the tourism industry.
