Lankem Paints Ltd, manufacturers, marketers and owners of the international flagship brand ‘Robbialac’ celebrates its 30th anniversary this year with a whopping 30% discount on its Enamel, Emulsion and Weather Coat paints during the month of March while saying ‘Thank You’ to its many thousands of loyal customers.

Director Lankem Ceylon PLC Ruwan T. Weerasinghe said, “As we celebrate our 30th anniversary this year, we’re proud to be one of Sri Lanka’s leading paints manufacturers and one that is entirely home grown. This is the unique heritage we’re happy to share with our customers. The journey has been long and eventful as we have coloured the lives of tens of thousands of Sri Lankans across the country covering many generations”.

“This discount is the first-ever of its kind in Sri Lanka’s paint industry and has been welcomed as a boon to consumers. It also comes at a time when consumers prepare for the forthcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year while also facing high costs of daily living. In fact the island wide response to this has been incredible”, Weerasinghe added.

This offer is available at all Robbialac Colour studios and from over thousands of Robbialac dealers, island wide. Details of the offer could be obtained through the dedicated hotline 0777004912

The Lankem story began in 1984 when it began commercial operations with the technical collaboration of Berger International, Singapore. Seventeen years down the line in 2001 it parted ways with Berger and ventured forth as a 100% local paint manufacturer with its own technology including the Robbialac brand: It is today probably the only Sri Lankan company to own an international brand outright.

A pioneer in Sri Lanka’s paints industry, Lankem is today Sri Lanka’s largest 100% local coatings manufacturer and marketer. Lankem’s rich portfolio includes emulsion, enamel, weather coat, special effects paints, primers, ancillaries, wall preparation, floor coats, anti-corrosive, adhesives, wood care, auto coat which cater to all needs of the Sri Lankan paints consumer.

In 2002 Lankem received the ISO 9000 certificate and became the first ISO 9000 cerified paint company in the country. Similarly the Lankem paint factory at Ekala was the first paint manufacturing facility to receive SLS ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management Systems.

It is also the one and only paint manufacturer as at date in Sri Lanka to be awarded with ISO 14001 for Environmental Management Systems, in addition to the SLS mark.

In 2003 the Company commenced practicing cleaner production methods while the Robbialac Colour Studios launched operations the same year.

Lankem Robbialac goes on record as having taken the lead in Sri Lanka’s paints industry with the launch of its novel child-friendly product – Safe Coat. As a responsible corporate it reiterated its commitment to safeguarding not only the environment but also the future generations of this country.

Among the Company’s CSR initiatives is the annual Robbialac Varna Pooja project through which the Dalada Maligawa is fully painted prior to the Esela Perahera. Now in its tenth consecutive year (2014), this annual ‘Varna Pooja’ is one of the numerous rituals associated with the Temple of the Tooth prior to the Perehera.

The Company was also privileged to paint the Madhu Church for the annual feast as part of its continuous dedication to contribute to Sri Lanka’s rich culture and heritage through initiatives such as this.

Mr. Weerasinghe added that, “We know that our lives and our personalities are also unconsciously shaped and moulded by our experiences and interactions with colour. From the times of the ancient cavemen to today’s professional designers, colour has been a medium of expression and freedom. We have, for the past thirty years, been offering local consumers the freedom to express themselves, and decorate their walls and spaces with our range of locally produced high quality paints”.

“On the happy occasion of this 30th anniversary we extend our sincere thanks to our thousands of customers and suppliers, both in Sri Lanka and overseas and assure them of the highest quality products conforming to international standards at all times, and, to be with them in the next 30 years and beyond. A special note of thanks to our loyal distributors and dealers who by way of participating in this promotion are not only supporting Robbialac but also their own customers”, Weerasinghe concluded.
