Lee Hedges proposes investment projects in north

Lee Hedges PLC has proposed setting up of an Apparel Training Centre in Jaffna at an estimated cost of Rs. 62 million. This is a Social Responsibility Project by the company to uplift the living condition of the community in the Northern Province by providing training in the apparel sector for better employment opportunities.

The project is to train the unemployed young adults in the Northern Province in the skills of the apparel industry and then employ them in the production of apparels for the local as well as the export markets.

Lee Hedges PLC has also proposed to set up of an approximately Rs. 10.8 million venture in the agricultural sector in Vavuniya. It proposes to cultivate Red Lady papaya and Cavendish bananas to create employment opportunities to those in Vavuniya.
