Ma’s Foods Supports the Development of Culinary Skills among Students in Minuwangoda

Ma’s Food Processing (Pvt) Ltd branded as “MA’s Kitchen” recently upgraded and refurbished the Home Science room in Polwattha Sri Rathanasara Central College in Minuwangoda and handed over to the school at a very simple and yet colorful ceremony.

The chief guest at the opening ceremony was Poppe Braam from the Netherlands, a renowned chef and founder of DO-IT, a leading company in the import and export of quality certified organic products and one of MA’s Foods longstanding overseas customers.

Zonal director of Education Minwangoda, Managing Director of MA’s Foods and the principal of the school were also present to grace the occasion.

Ma’s Foods owns and operates a factory producing coconut milk predominantly for exports in the vicinity of the school and provides hundreds of people with employment.

The company also recognizes its social responsibility commitment and invested in providing facilities which play an important role in supporting the social and economic development of the area. The newly commissioned home science room is a part of this initiative.

“We at Ma’s Foods feel happy and privileged to have participated in the refurbishment of the Home Science Room in Polwattha Sri Rathanasara Central College, Minuwangoda which has over 700 students. We hope the modern facility will give students both male and female the necessary skills and encouragement to embark on a career in the food industry” stated Mr. Mario De Alwis the Managing Director of MA’s Foods.

“In addition to career opportunities, learning basic cooking skills are an essential life lesson for both male and female students. The concept of the Ma’s Kitchen was established to encourage better food choices and improve family happiness and stability through sharing and cooking a meal as a family” Mr. Alwis added.

In order to give the students a hands on experience and a career inspiration a Cookery workshop was organized by MA’s Foods in collaboration with Sri Lankan Airline Catering Service on the opening day.
