May, 9, 2014

The Urban Development Authority (UDA) has prepared a major plan to develop the Kottawa town which is the closest to the Makumbura interchange of the Southern expressway.

A four acre plot of land belonging to the Department of Probation and Childcare in Kottawa is to be acquired by the UDA to expand this area.

A shopping complex, commercial centre, a district office of the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) and other facilities are to be set up within the Kottawa town under this plan.

Regional offices of the National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWS&DB) and the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) would also be set up here, adds the government.

Recently, AdaderanaBiz revealed that the government is preparing to construct three electrically operated overhead pedestrian walkways within the Kottawa town.
