Pelwatte Dairy Industries Ltd, a leading manufacturer of locally produced dairy products is all set to offer discerning consumers fresh Sri Lankan goodness this holiday season. Locally produced full cream milk powder, butter, a variety of yoghurt and ice cream are among the list of products churned out at the Pelwatte Dairy’s factory in Buttala.

Pelwatte full cream milk powder is produced using only locally sourced fresh milk from dairy farmers spread across the Eastern, Uva and Central provinces. Freshness of the milk powder is assured not just by the stringent quality standards adhered to at the production facility, but also by the fact that milk powder is produced within 24 hours of collection time. All Pelwatte Dairy products are 100% natural, with no additives, chemicals or preservatives added to any of the wide range.

Freshly collected milk is also used to produce butter, yoghurt and ice-cream. Pelwatte butter comes in both salted and unsalted varieties and is ideal for the sweet and savoury festive treats that are commonplace in all homes this season. For home consumption and gift giving Pelwatte ice-cream is available in traditional flavours such as chocolate, strawberry and vanilla, while fruit & nut and mango are for the more ambitious taste buds. Pelwatte yoghurt and flavoured sterilized milk can also be purchased from retail outlets and supermarkets islandwide. The company also offers bulk purchases to both the hotels and bakery sectors.

Commenting on the uniqueness of the Pelwatte Dairy product offerings Chairman Ariyaseela Wickramanayake notes, “For thousands of years Sri Lanka has been self-sufficient in milk. Built on this historic fact, Pelwatte Dairy stands firmly to support the local dairy farmer. All our milk and milk-based products are produced using only locally collected fresh milk. This is why we can guarantee our customers freshness and goodness in every product. Our attempt is to bring Sri Lanka back to self-sufficiency levels by empowering our local dairy producers. Through our endeavours all Sri Lankans benefit.”

During the last Christmas season Pelwatte Dairy saw phenomenal sales figures for their full cream milk powder, yoghurt, ice-cream and butter. Continuing the trend this year figures already indicate consumer interest and acceptance of the products.

Director Marketing of Pelwatte Dairy Akmal Wickramanayake adds, “Consumers in Sri Lanka are definitely becoming more aware of the quality of products they consume. This is where a locally manufactured brand which adheres to the highest ethical and quality standards has an edge over importers. Our sales figures show the growing consumer confidence in Pelwatte Dairy products, and this season we only see that confidence growing.”

Quality, tasty and healthy Pelwatte Dairy products are available through supermarkets and retail stores spread across the island.
