SLTDA removes minimum room rate imposed on Colombo City Hotels

May, 30, 2019

In a press release, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority stated that due to the severe hit on Tourism Industry following Easter Sunday Attacks, they have decided to remove the minimum room rate (MRR) imposed on Colombo City Hotels effective immediately.

Furthermore, it stated that it’s better for the market forces to decide the room rates rather than SLTDA dictating terms due to the prevailing situation.

This week, the travel ban on visiting Sri Lanka implemented by China, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and India was relaxed to “Be cautious when traveling” to Sri Lanka and the Authority is confident that the Travel Advisories will be lifted in the next couple of weeks as they have been working closely with many Diplomatic Missions since the incident.
