For the 1st time deputy high commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai organizing a Sri Lankan Food Festival
At the initiative of the Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, the Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai is organizing the inaugural “Sri Lanka Food Festival” in celebration of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year (Aluth Avurudda).
This special culinary event will be held from 24th to 26th April 2026 at Green Meadows Resort, Chennai, offering a unique opportunity to experience the rich and diverse flavors of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.
The festival is being organized in collaboration with esteemed partners, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka; Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau; Export Development Board of Sri Lanka; Ministry of External Affairs of India; India Tourism; the Department of Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments of Tamil Nadu; Institute of Hotel Management Chennai; Dwaraka Productions Chennai; and the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo.
The primary objective of the festival is to further strengthen cultural ties between Sri Lanka and South India, while promoting tourism, trade, and people-to-people connections through a shared appreciation of culinary heritage.
The event will be graced by the presence of leading South Indian actors and actresses, prominent Sri Lankan celebrities, distinguished business leaders, and Chennai’s corporate elite. It will also bring together diplomatic representatives, travel and tourism associations, Rotary Clubs, Round Table members, film producers, and members of the media fraternity, making it a truly prestigious and diverse gathering.
Enhancing the cultural experience, the Sri Lanka Police Cultural Group will present traditional performances, offering guests an immersive glimpse into Sri Lanka’s rich artistic heritage.
This landmark festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of cuisine, culture, and collaboration.
