Sri Lanka to sign several agreements with Maldives

The proposal made by the Prime Minister to enter into an Agreement on the facilitation of visa arrangements between the Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and to authorize the Minister of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils & Local Government to sign the said Agreement on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka, was approved by the Cabinet.

Cabinet also approved the proposal made by the Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Republic of Maldives for the purposes of higher education and water supply sectors, during the visit of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe, to Maldives in September 2019, to receive foreign exchange to the country through the expansion of higher educational opportunities affiliated to the state and non-state sectors of Sri Lanka, for the expansion of higher educational opportunities of Sri Lanka within the South Asian Region and to accrue benefits through the investment of specialized knowledge in Engineering of the Water Supply Sector in the Maldives with a view to further extending the friendship and mutual cooperation between the two countries.
