Sri Lankan assistance for Seychelles power sector

Sri Lanka is to provide its fullest assistance in expanding the renewable power sources of the recently much talked about Seychelles archipelago, Power & Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka told the Seychelles Ambassador in Sri Lanka Waven William when he met him in Colombo this morning (16 June).

The Ambassador said that the Seychelles government to turn towards renewable energy sources and that it expects Sri Lanka’s assistance in this process.

Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said that Sri Lanka would be able to provide electricity to 100 per cent of the island’s population and that the government expects to resort to renewable energy sources to do so.

During the recent past there were continued allegations that certain groups have stashed their wealth illegally in the Seychelles.

The Bank of Ceylon too had established a branch in the Seychelles some time ago.
