The stock market closed trading for the day (06) recording a daily turnover of Rs. 7.15 billion. Browns Investments PLC emerged as the top contributor to the turnover with Rs.3.17 billion and accounted for 44% of the total turnover.
Meanwhile, the benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) today crossed the 7,000 point mark for the first time since 24 November 2015. The ASPI surged 57.90 points ( or 0.83%) to close at 7,036.76 while S&P SL20 Index of more liquid stocks dropped by 4.45 points ( or 0.16%) to end at 2,703.19.
Today, 112 companies positively contributed to the ASPI’s gain. Stocks which contributed most to ASPI’s gain were Browns Investments, Vallibel One, Commercial Leasing & Finance, LOLC and Dialog Axiata.
