The Marriot, a prominent chain of hotels in the world, began operations of its latest luxury hotel at Weligama on 20 July, under the name Marriott Resort & Spa - Weligama Bay.

While the ownership rights of this hotel are with Weligama Hotel Properties Ltd., a subsidiary of East West Properties Ltd., what was unique is the beginning of the hotels operations without any ceremony whatsoever.

East West Properties Ltd. Recently informed the Colombo Stock Exchange that it has begun operations of its 198 room Marriott Resort & Spa - Weligama Bay.

Occupying a space of 350,000 square feet, this is Sri Lanka’s latest five-star hotel.
