Vim Diviyata Disne continues to gather momentum as it helps women on their quest to gain greater financial independence. The recently concluded exhibition in Kurunegala attracted about 8,000 women and saw several new partners come on board to share their expertise and knowledge in their relative fields.

Regional Development Bank, Sanasa Bank, State Trading Corporation, Agriculture Department, National Craft Council, Sarvodaya Fusion, Guru.lk and others were the latest partners to join the Vim Diviyata Disne initiative. These new partners were able to impart practical knowledge ranging from financial to agricultural that will help Sri Lankan women seize the opportunities available to them.

They join existing partners Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, Vocational Training Authority, Singer, Nilakshi Nagahamulla, People's Bank, and Mobitel.

Speaking on the event’s success, Lishini Karunatillaka, Brand Manager – Vim, Unilever Sri Lanka said, “Vim has a long history of partnering with and supporting women in taking on the challenges in the kitchen. This initiative for women’s empowerment was born from this history and we are proud to not only see it succeed but also to see other corporates take up the mantle. It is only together as a nation, with us all doing our parts, can we succeed in helping women meet the challenges they face in this modern day. It is also encouraging to see women actively seek out new skills and knowledge that will help them be financially independent.”

A joint initiative of Unilever Sri Lanka’s Vim and the Ministry of Women & Child Affairs, Vim Diviyata Disne was launched in Ampara on this International Women’s Day. The forum aims to bring together stakeholders from various industries to enlighten Sri Lankan women on the opportunities available to them in areas such as agriculture, cooking, sewing and beauty & personal grooming and impart knowledge on managing a business, availing financial support and using Information Technology.
