Holding the Sri Lankan leg of its 10th annual Silver Pixels Global Photography Exhibition, Virtusa turned its Sri Lankan Advance Technology Center (SLATC) at Orion City into an art gallery for a day. With over a 150 awe inspiring entries on view, the event showcased the photographic skills of Virtusans.
Capturing the richness of their surroundings, Virtusans were asked to submit one-of-a-kind images on this year’s theme of Diversity under the categories Nature, People and Places. A panel of distinguished judges comprised of Sagara De Mel, Prasad Hapuarachchi and Ajantha Wattalagedara – some of the most renowned professional photographers in Sri Lanka declared Bavithra Anpalagan (People), Suvini Vinodya Gunawardena (Places) and Kushan Panduka Wijesundara (Nature) as the winners in each of the categories while Kushan Panduka Wijesundara was awarded the Overall Winner of Silver Pixels 2014 and walked away with a return air ticket to Malaysia. A selection of the winning masterpieces will be used for Virtusa’s corporate calendar as well.
Celebrating 10 years of Silver Pixels, Mobile Photography was included for the first time to the exhibition this year. Virtusa also simultaneously held an online competition for university students on the company’s Campus Reach Facebook page with the photograph with the most number of likes being adjudged as the winner.
Two workshops were also held on the sidelines of the event for photography enthusiasts at Virtusa. Camera Hub did a session titled “An introduction to cameras, equipment and great comparisons to help add value to your next purchase” while Jam Photo demonstrated some of the latest trends in photo album printing.
