Virtusa named one of Britain’s Top Employers for fourth consecutive year

April, 22, 2014

Virtusa Corporation (NASDAQ: VRTU), a global business consulting and IT outsourcing company that combines innovation, technology leadership and industry solutions to transform the customer experience, today announced that the Top Employers Institute has named it one of the UK’s Top Employers for the fourth consecutive year.

“It is an honor to again be named as one of Britain’s top employers,” said Sundararajan Narayanan, senior vice president and global head of HR at Virtusa. “With a large and rapidly growing workforce, we are committed to providing a next-gen work environment that fosters a vibrant, enjoyable and creative place to work. We strive to be a place where team members can put down roots and fulfill their potential.”

With over 7,000 global employees, Virtusa is an HR innovator across its global operations; in particular, using technology solutions to ensure all staff, at all levels, are able to contribute to the running of the business. Virtusa has designed, built and implemented a complete social business platform, V+, to transform the way Virtusans work, learn, share and connect. Since the implementation of V+, Virtusa has seen an increase in productivity, greater collaboration amongst team members and improved employee morale. Virtusa also regularly collects feedback from its team members to improve communication between its leadership team and all other team members. This focus on HR excellence has led to recognition worldwide including other ‘Best Employer’ awards in the U.S., India and Sri Lanka in the past year alone.

“Virtusa’s continuous success is the result of our team members’ skills and their outstanding commitment, which highlights the importance of attracting and retaining top talent,” said Sameet Gupte, Virtusa’s senior vice president and managing director for Europe. “To be a top employer for four years in a row, you must have an environment that appeals to a diverse workforce and supports world class HR policies and practices. An environment that is vibrant and inspiring enough to challenge individuals to achieve results outside their comfort zones, and that fosters innovation. I feel proud to be a part of the incredibly talented Virtusa team here in the UK.”

The Top Employers Institute (formerly known as the CRF Institute) globally certifies excellence in the conditions that employers create for their people. Now in its 14th year, Top Employers UK uses proprietary international standards and independent research to identify those companies excelling in HR management. Companies were assessed based on key HR-related areas, including; Primary Benefits, Secondary Benefits and Working Conditions, Training and Development, Career Development and Culture Management. Crucial to the Top Employers process is that participating companies must complete a stringent research process and meet the required high standard in order to achieve the certification.

“In 2013 we’ve seen trends of the last couple of years starting to come to fruition with many Top Employers starting to reap the results from the coaching, mentoring, and apprenticeship programmes they’ve implemented,” said Eleanor Nickerson, director of UK Operations for the Top Employers Institute. “We’re seeing a heavier focus on succession planning, in particular with companies developing their current and future leadership. Many of our certified companies have developed creative and inclusive leadership programmes that help to develop their top talent and ensure that it’s a win-win situation – you have engaged employees who have an exciting and rewarding career path ahead of them, and organisations with talented, long-term leadership that’s aligned with their business.”

The Top Employers Institute recognised the 2014 certified companies at an awards dinner on March 11 2014 at Old Billingsgate, Lower Thames Street, London. The Top Employers Institute’s complete list of Britain’s Top Employers for 2014 is available here: http://www.top-employers.com/
