The awards were presented by President Maithripala Sirisena at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre, Colombo.

“We are honored to be recognized with the presidential award for excellence in exports. It's a proud moment for us to get recognized for the positive impact Virtusa is making to the Sri Lankan economy. Sri Lanka is today recognized as one of the fastest growing emerging destinations for IT and we are delighted to be part of this exciting journey of our country,” said Madu Ratnayake, executive vice president and general manager, Virtusa.

Recently, Virtusa was also recognized by the National Chamber of Exporters Awards (NCE Awards) with three gold awards for its efforts in encouraging, hiring and retaining local talent and resources to add value to its services. And at the SLIM Brand Excellence Awards held in October 2015, Virtusa was crowned Export ‘Brand of the Year’ for the second consecutive year. The company has consistently focused on developing quality pool of talent to strengthen its contribution to the country’s export earnings.

“These awards are a validation of the tireless efforts of Virtusans, which have not only resulted in delivering world class solutions for our clients but also driving the company’s growth and footprint across the globe. We are proud to have nurtured the talent that has helped us achieve this prestigious recognition,” said Sanjeev Palihawadana, vice president – Delivery at Virtusa, Sri Lanka.

The Presidential Export Awards were conceived by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board in 1981 as a way to acknowledge the efforts of the export community towards the development of the nation. The award is the highest form of recognition given to an exporter and is based on the exporters’ overall export earnings, product development, market development and social development made towards the country.
