Leisure Industry Veteran and successful hotelier Rohan Karr is leaving the Cinnamon brand of Sri Lanka’s John Keells group he built and joining business mogul and billionaire Dhammika Perera to lead the leisure sector, several media reports outlined recently.
According to reports Rohan Karr’s exit was announced yesterday and he will be joining the Board of diversified blue chip Hayleys PLC as an Executive Director as well as the Managing Director of leisure, hotels, travels and tours, from 1st June, 2019. Reports noted that Karr is expected to oversee the Hayleys aviation business too.
Billionaire Dhammika controlled and owned Hayleys Group’s flagship leisure brand is Amaya and has the city five star The Kingsbury.
Rohan is the Sector Head of the Cinnamon City Hotels sector of John Keells Holdings and General Manager, Cinnamon Grand, and overlooked the management of Cinnamon Grand, Cinnamon Lakeside and Cinnamon Red, and heads the Brand Development team for the Cinnamon brand. He counts over 30 years both in the local and international hospitality industry, and earlier held the position of General Manager in several hotels in the United Kingdom, and also a Director of Trans Asia Hotels PLC. He has read for his Masters in Hospitality and Business Studies from the Thames Valley University, London.
